Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Begins Switch to Cage-Free Eggs

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., (Nasdaq: RRGB), a casual dining restaurant chain focused on serving an innovative selection of high-quality gourmet burgers in a family-friendly atmosphere, today announced it has begun phasing-in purchasing preferences toward ensuring that all of the eggs served in Red Robin's company-owned restaurants come from suppliers that do not use battery cages.

As part of Red Robin's corporate responsibility initiatives, which include the Company's policy to support the humane treatment of farm animals within its supply chain, the Company intends to serve only cage-free eggs in its more than 300 company-owned restaurants by the end of 2010. Red Robin will make substantial progress toward its goal beginning in July 2009, when approximately a third of all eggs purchased by the Company will be cage-free.

"Red Robin's high standards for quality and unsurpassed Guest service remain our top priorities," said Susan Lintonsmith, senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "We recognize that the elimination of battery cages in egg production has become an increasingly important issue in the communities we serve."

In defining its cage-free egg initiative over the last several months, Red Robin has formed a working relationship with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

"We sincerely appreciate the insights and ideas that the Humane Society has shared with Red Robin," said Lintonsmith. "We are pleased with their support for our battery cage-free egg commitments and look forward to continuing our dialog with the Humane Society on animal welfare issues."
