Oberon Middle School in Arvada Receives $10,000 and Is Named Red Robin Gourmet Burgers' U-ACT(TM) Champion School
Red Robin Also Recognizes Two Award of Excellence Schools in Colorado With $1,000
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., May 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. (Red Robin), in association with the Colorado PTA, has announced Oberon Middle School in Arvada, Colo., as its U-ACT(TM) Champion School for the 2006-2007 school year. U-ACT, or Unbridled Acts of Kindness, is a character building initiative that aims to inspire and energize junior high and middle school students about the value of being kind to your neighbor. The mission of the program is to help foster and create a sense of neighborliness inside and outside of the school setting.
Oberon Middle School was named the U-ACT Champion School for programs conducted this school year focused on the mission of U-ACT. Red Robin will present a $10,000 check, plaque and banner to Oberon Middle School in a special ceremony at the school on Thursday, May 10 at 8:30 a.m. In addition, the students and staff of Oberon Middle School will be attending a special school spirit night at the Arvada Red Robin(R) restaurant this month.
Oberon Middle School surpassed the necessary program criteria to be named the U-ACT Champion School. Motivated by the U-ACT program, Oberon Middle School implemented several student and staff recognition programs including Super Star Student Awards, Vikings of the Month and a TEACHER award. Additionally, the school participated in many community outreach programs including its largest fundraiser to date, the 'Save Our Students' SOS run, which supports the Yellow Ribbon suicide prevention program. Other outreach efforts included a fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina victims, food drives, and collecting coats and clothing during the holiday season.

In addition to naming Oberon Middle School the U-ACT Champion School, Red Robin and the Colorado PTA also selected two Award of Excellence schools. Falcon Creek Middle School in Aurora and Ken Caryl Middle School in Littleton will both receive $1,000 and a school spirit night at their local Red Robin(R) restaurant for their 2006-2007 U-ACT programs. Oberon Middle School was previously named a Red Robin Award of Excellence school for the 2005-2006 school year.

Red Robin developed the U-ACT Champion Program based on its internal emphasis on Unbridled Acts, or celebrated random acts of kindness, that Team Members bestow upon restaurant guests and other team members.
