The Denver Business Journal's annual award recognizes 40 outstanding Colorado professionals under age 40 for their business success and community contributions. Houseman was recognized specifically for his civic affiliations, including serving on the board of Special Olympics Colorado and the Colorado Restaurant Association, and the programs he's supported to motivate and retain Red Robin Team Members nationwide.

Houseman's extensive knowledge of Red Robin includes operations, financial performance, human resources, recruiting, training, franchise operations and facilities. He began his career with the company in 1988 as a bartender at the Bellingham, Wash. restaurant. Since then, he has served in a variety of positions at Red Robin including general manager, regional operations director and vice president of operations.
